Evening Rest (Study After James Reynolds)

This small 9 × 12 study was painted as an homage to master Western artist James Reynolds. Created as part of my continued exploration of Western light, atmosphere, and narrative, this piece allowed me to slow down and study the quiet strength and stillness that define his work. The relationship between horse and rider at day’s end — silhouetted against a fading sky — is a timeless Western moment. Studies like this are an important part of my artistic practice, sharpening observation, honoring tradition, and deepening my understanding of storytelling through paint.

While this piece is not available for purchase, it represents an ongoing commitment to growth within the Western genre.
